Getting to Nantucket

Flying

Flying into Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) is quick and easy from the tri-state area. There are multiple direct flights a day from NYC (LGA/JFK), Newark (EWR), Westchester (HPN), Philadelphia (PHL). For those coming from a bit further, connecting through the New York or Boston airports is likely your best option.

Ferry

Hyline Cruises and The Steamship Authority offer Fast Ferry Service from Hyannis for those traveling without a car.

Getting around  Nantucket

UBER, LYFT and island taxis are a great option for getting around Nantucket and what we recommend.

There are a few car rental agencies on the island located at the airport and in town. If you feel like doing some beach driving while you’re here, you will want to rent a 4-wheel jeep. Nantucket Windmill Auto Rental, and Nantucket Island Rent A Car, can help you out.

Nantucket is totally accessible by bike. The many bike paths are a safe and fun way to see the island. There are several bike rentals on island including:

Young’s Bicycle Shop, Nantucket Bike Shop and Cook’s Cycle Shop.

Public transportation: The WAVE, is a free bus service that goes from Town to Sconset, Madaket, Surfside and many other locations around the island.

If you want to bring your own car over on the slow ferry, you can travel via The Steamship Authority from Hyannis. You would need to make this reservation far in advance.
